Rose DeWitt Bukater
Kate Winslet played the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater, a first class girl aboard Titanic. Kate recieved an Oscar nomonation for her performance. In Titanic, Rose's controlling mother is making her get married to Cal Hockley(Billy Zane), a spoiled rotten jerk. Cal was also very controlling and treated Rose like a possesion instead of a wife. Rose meets Jack when he rescues her from her near suicide attempt near the stern of Titanic. Cal rewards Jack by inviting him to dinner. After the boring first-class party Jack takes Rose to a "real" party down in third-class. Jack and Rose become more and more romantically involved with each other. Rose finally falls in love with Jack just as Titanic hits the iceberg. After Titanic has sank Jack makes Rose promise that she will survive and die an old lady in her bed. Rose promises to never give up. Then they lay waiting for the life boats to come and save them.
